Problem
→ Potentially confusing booking flow.
Booking is always important to get right. We knew because of the multiple pathways for booking—virtual consultation and home call—and the multiple steps within each pathway, this needed to be done in a simple, intuitive way.
→ A lot of pet information to account for that could be overwhelming.
There is a lot of information associated with your pet, especially if you have multiple pets. We know that managing that information can become taxing for a user—age, weight, allergies, medications, vaccines, existing health conditions, and more. We want to include all of this in pet profiles, but not in a way that is overwhelming.
→ Notifications and appointment reminders could get lost.
Pet health is important, and we didn’t want anything to slip through the cracks, whether that’s a home call or virtual consultation appointment, medication reminders, or more. With a lot to remember, there could also be an influx of unnecessary notifications depending on the user.
Solution
→ Design an easy appointment booking flow.
Because this was a brand new app, our priority was to create an easy appointment scheduling process to facilitate seamless booking for pet owners that would drive sales. There are two pathways: a virtual consultation and a home call where veterinarians would travel to and treat the pet. We aimed to make both of these processes unencumbered—being a maximum of 4 steps—and limiting clicks and implementing a highly visual stepper to show progress transparency.
→ Build comprehensive pet profiles.
It was important for this app to hold all your pets’ information in an organized and intuitive way. We implemented onboarding screens that collect most of that pet information upfront so the user doesn’t have to remember to input it later. In the Pets tab, we created toggles to filter by pet, and the ability to further drill down to profile or medical history. Now, pet owners can quickly access details in an at-a-glance way about general information like allergies as well as a full history of past services. There’s also multiple access points to customize and update information when the time comes.
→ Prioritize appointment reminders and notifications.
We provide the user with control over enabling a variety of different notifications types regarding billing, new messages, and upcoming appointments and consultations. To guarantee they’re not missed, we integrated them throughout the as in-app messages and badges. We also included an “Add to Calendar” button after you book an appointment.
